Guides and Rubrics for Successful Instructional Designs

Guide to a Successful Instructional Designs

Once my group was approached for more hands-on help developing a course I saw a need for a guide. As usually this particular instructor was wanting to jump directly to the Development phase and I needed plenty of questions answered before I could figure out the overall need for their new course. That is when I started creating this document.

The Air Force, of course, has a policy of how to develop an Instructional Systems Design so I broke that policy down into questions and separated it into the level they were needing to start. Whether the instructor was creating a whole new program, a course within a program or just an individual lesson this guide can help determine what you need to consider for each phase of ADDIE.

Rubric to Review Competency Based Lessons

When my group was asked to review some newly developed competency based lessons I saw a need to create a standard rubric for us all to follow. This document was created in order to keep us all on the same “page” in regards to what we should be looking for and to provide structured feedback to the developer. As a link we were all able to contribute and see what we were all providing this developer so the guidance was clear and knowledgeable.
